The intent of this sub-contest is to encourage growth and capacity building for those interested in the field and who are not yet established professionals.
There are three qualifications for this contest:
You must submit at least 1 Grouped Ambience to the Regional Birds crowdsource library. Isolated Bird recordings will not qualify.
You must self-identify as an amateur or be someone who is within their first 2 years of working professionally in sound. Examples of amateurs include: hobbyists, students and people who do not normally make their money professionally from sound. This self identification is by honor policy.
This application needs to be submitted at any point on or before November 30th 2024 , when the Regional Crowdsource library closes.
The prize for this contest is a set of O-Mini microphones (https://www.chrisatrevino.com/store/omini). To increase equity with globally underrepresented areas, submissions will be separated by the recordist's continent of origin. There will be one winner chosen per continent. Chris will contact each winner and cover postage; there may be duty taxes that need to be paid by the winner.
Contest winners will be determined by a panel of judges, including Chris Trevino and Andy Martin. (Possibly others.)
Winners will be announced by early January 2025.
