Bio

Chris Trevino is an American field recordist and audio engineer. He was born and raised in Michigan’s rural Upper Peninsula among the postindustrial ruins of one of America’s largest copper mining districts. As an artist, he strives to document the changing and disappearing sounds of our world in a way that is culturally and commercially accessible.

Chris has over eight years of experience working in the performing arts, and has been the production manager and primary audio engineer at two different multidisciplinary performing arts facilities. He has worked with artists such as: Lorrie Morgan, Rodney Crowell, William Florian, Lee Roy Parnell, Shelby Lynne, Vieux Farka Touré, Sinkane and Sō Percussion.

Chris graduated from Michigan Technological University with a Bachelors of Art in Sound Design, and studied Japanese at the Japan Center for Michigan Universities in Hikone, Shiga. As an undergraduate, he interned with Ric Viers, author of the Sound Effects Bible and owner of The Detroit Chop Shop, to record and edit commercial sound effects libraries for BlastwaveFX.  Shortly after graduating in 2015, he launched the “The Japan Sound Effects Collection”, a Kickstarter-funded solo 3-month backpacking trip throughout Japan to record regional soundscapes.
